The United States women’s national team beat Brazil 1-0 in a friendly at Arena Castelão in Fortaleza on Tuesday after Isabela Chagas scored a second-half own goal.
ESPN listed the final score as Brazil 0-1 United States, while U.S. Soccer said the match kicked off at 9:30 p.m. local time on June 9.
The Guardian reported that Sophia Wilson’s run forced the decisive own goal. Brazil ended the match with nine players after a late series of dismissals.
Spanish referee Paola Cebollada Lopez sent off Brazil head coach Arthur Elias and members of his staff after he received a second booking in the 77th minute.
Bia Zaneratto received a second yellow card in added time after pushing Emily Sonnett. Tarciane was then sent off after elbowing Sophia Wilson.
Brazil forwards Kerolin and Ludmila were dismissed after full-time following protests toward the referee. Police in riot gear moved in as some Brazil players confronted the match officials.

U.S. coach Emma Hayes said she had “an experience I will never forget” after the match. Midfielder Lindsey Heaps said she hoped the scenes were not repeated at next year’s Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
Brazil had beaten the United States 2-1 in the first match of the double-header on Saturday, according to ESPN. Brazil will host the Women’s World Cup next year.
