Babar Azam set a new international batting record on Sunday, becoming the only player to score more than 9,000 runs in the 2020s during Pakistan’s second Test against Bangladesh.
The Pakistan batter made 68 off 84 balls at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, hitting 10 boundaries before Pakistan folded for 232 in 57.4 overs.
Babar reached 9,060 international runs in his 212th match of the decade. His 2020s tally includes 67 half-centuries and 17 centuries, averaging 42.53.
England batter Joe Root ranks second with 8,305 runs in 120 matches, while Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan stands third with 7,779 runs in 199 matches.
Babar also equalled Steve Smith and Zak Crawley on the ICC World Test Championship half-century list. His 20th WTC fifty in 39 Tests moved him into joint third place.

Bangladesh ended Day 2 at 110-3 in 26.4 overs and led Pakistan by 156 runs. Najmul Hossain Shanto remained unbeaten on 13 after Mominul Haque fell on the last ball of the day.
