The federal government will convene the Annual Plan Coordination Committee on June 1 to review the APCC development outlay before Budget 2026-27, sources said.
Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal will chair the meeting in Islamabad. The committee will examine proposals for the Public Sector Development Programme and next year’s economic targets.
Sources said the committee will consider an allocation of Rs1.126 trillion for the federal Public Sector Development Programme in FY2026-27.
The proposed PSDP will shape federal development spending in roads, energy, water, education, health and other priority areas. It will also set the tone for the wider budget process.
The APCC development outlay review comes before the National Economic Council meeting. The NEC normally gives final approval to the national development plan and macroeconomic framework.

Reports earlier said the government moved APCC and NEC meetings to the first week of June. The change gave ministries more time to finalise development ceilings and investment proposals. Sources said the APCC may recommend a 4% GDP growth target for the next fiscal year.
Separate budget reports have placed the proposed federal PSDP ceiling near Rs1.126 trillion. Some reports also cited a growth target around 4.1% for FY2026-27. The committee will review development priorities amid tight fiscal space. Therefore, officials must balance new projects with funding for ongoing schemes.
The Planning Ministry has stressed the need for smart budgeting and stronger monitoring of development projects. It has also backed reforms to improve project cash flow and implementation.
The APCC meeting marks a key step before the federal budget is presented to parliament. Its recommendations will guide the development programme that the government places before the National Economic Council.
