Punjab Women Protection Authority Chairperson Hina Pervaiz Butt has opposed reports of an Anmol Pinky drama, calling the idea “shameful and irresponsible” in a social media statement.
Butt said a drama on Anmol alias Pinky, who faces cases linked to narcotics and an unlicensed weapon, would wrongly turn her into a role model. She said such projects chase ratings and commercial success.
“This is an insult to all those women who have served society with dignity and dedication,” Butt wrote on Facebook.
Anmol alias Pinky was arrested in May from her Garden apartment during a joint raid by police and a civilian intelligence agency. Authorities said they recovered narcotics during the operation.
Investigators said she was linked to an organised drug trafficking network operating in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad. Law enforcement agencies said the network used digital payments, fake identities and delivery riders to supply narcotics in affluent areas.
Earlier, the Counter Terrorism Department recommended dismissal of Constable Ali Qureshi and Assistant Sub-Inspector Kafeel Awan after an internal inquiry into their alleged links with Anmol Pinky.
