ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan Peoples Party sources expect Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to address Parliament by Wednesday, August 19, regarding allegations of AJK poll rigging and proposals for new provinces.
Party sources said Bilawal would detail the PPP’s reservations about the Azad Jammu and Kashmir election process. He also plans to brief lawmakers on the party’s negotiations with the federal government.
Meanwhile, PPP lawmakers will protest proposals to create new provinces, the report said. The party maintained that any new administrative units must reflect the will of affected populations.
The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz won 25 general seats, while the PPP secured 12. The result put the PML-N in a position to form the government in Muzaffarabad, the AJK capital.

Separately, PPP sources said that the party’s legal team planned to file a petition with the AJK High Court within 48 hours. The proposed case would ask the court to delay the formation of the government until the election process fills all Legislative Assembly seats.
The AJK Election Commission scheduled voting for eight reserved seats on August 24. Polling will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. PKT at the Legislative Assembly Hall in Muzaffarabad.
Lawmakers could elect the Speaker and Deputy Speaker on August 25. The prime ministerial election could follow on August 27.
