Elon Musk’s AI prediction says artificial intelligence could perform virtually any digital task at a superhuman level by the end of 2027.

According to an August 31 post on X, Musk wrote, “AI will be able to do anything digital” that does not require physically manipulating objects. His forecast covers software-based work such as coding, research, document creation and data analysis.

Musk made the comment after Vercel chief executive Guillermo Rauch said that artificial intelligence would rapidly close the remaining capability gaps in 2026.

The prediction separates computer-based work from tasks that require machines to interact with the physical world. Musk has argued that robotics, autonomous vehicles and humanoid robots could eventually extend AI into those areas.

ELON MUSK: AI could increase the global economy by 20–30%, potentially adding $20–30 trillion per year.

Musk predicts that by the end of next year, AI could become capable of doing almost anything digital — anything that doesn’t require physically shaping atoms by hand.

The discussion also touched on cybersecurity. Rauch warned that increasingly capable AI agents could find and exploit software weaknesses without human direction.

Musk responded by recalling that Google co-founder Larry Page had predicted years earlier that artificial intelligence would eventually surpass humans at hacking.

The company also introduced Grok Bot, which gives AI agents access to computers for completing tasks across apps and websites.

Musk has issued several aggressive AI forecasts this year, including a prediction that 2026 will be a major turning point for increasingly autonomous systems.
