The Lahore High Court complaint cell took notice of a press report which said that influential landlords allegedly chopped off the nose of a labourer’s daughter. The cell has directed the Bahawalnagar district and sessions judge to submit a detailed report within a week.
Reports said that Jamshed and Nadeem of Basti Sherwali along with their five accomplices barged into the house of labourer Bashir. The intruders subjected Bashir’s daughter, 20, to severe torture ultimately chopped off her nose. They escaped afterwards.
According to the victim’s family Fareeda was punished because she had dared to refuse Jamshed’s son’s marriage proposal. Earlier, the accused party had also allegedly tried to abduct the girl but the bid was foiled by her relatives.
The police had registered a case against seven suspects on the victim’s complaint.
