A total of 184 candidates have filed their nomination papers to participate in Senate elections due on March 5.
According to sources in the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), the first phase of submission of nomination papers for 52 seats of the Parliament’s Upper House completed on Friday.
They said as many as 184 candidates from the federal capital, FATA and all four provinces have filed their nomination papers in Election Commission offices.
Sources said nine candidates in Islamabad, 43 in FATA, 23 in Punjab, 28 in Sindh, 39 in KPK and 42 candidates submitted their nomination papers in Balochistan.
In next phases of the election, ECP said, scrutiny of the nomination papers will be held today and tommorow. The nomination papers could be challenged by Feb. 21st while a final list of candidates will be issued on the Feb. 25.
The polling is scheduled to be held in the National Assembly and all four provincial assemblies simultaneously on March 5.
