Jack “Ziz” LaSota, the leader of the controversial Zizian cult linked to multiple deaths across the United States, was arrested in Allegany County, Maryland, on Sunday.
According to official sources alongside LaSota, authorities detained Michelle Zajko, a key suspect in her parents’ double homicide in Pennsylvania, and Daniel Blank, another cult member.
LaSota, 33, faces charges of trespassing, obstruction of justice, and illegal possession of a handgun. Zajko, 32, was arrested under similar charges, including resisting arrest. Blank, 26, was booked for trespassing and obstruction. The arrests shed further light on the trio’s alleged involvement in a violent crime spree attributed to the Zizians.
The Zizians, described as a fringe group from the Bay Area consisting of radical pseudo-intellectuals, have been implicated in at least six fatalities. These include a deadly shootout in Vermont and several brutal knife attacks in Vallejo. Additional members such as Alexander Leatham, Suri Dao, and Maximilian Snyder are currently detained, facing homicide charges.
Authorities have been pursuing the group since 2023 after a failed attempt to serve a search warrant at a Pennsylvania hotel connected to the murder of Rita and Richard Zajko. Despite a previous arrest and subsequent bail, LaSota and his associates evaded capture for over a year, complicating the investigation.
The ongoing investigations into the Zizians’ activities highlight the group’s extensive criminal involvement. As legal proceedings continue, LaSota, Zajko, and Blank will appear on Tuesday.
