The lunar phase marking the beginning of Zil Hajj has been seen in Saudi Arabia, marking the official start of the Islamic month on June 19, which is Monday.
The holy day of Arafah, a key date in Islam, is set for Tuesday, June 27, followed by the celebration of Eid ul Adha on Wednesday, June 28, in the Kingdom.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE), along with several other Gulf nations that typically celebrate Eid ul Fitr and Eid ul Adha concurrently with Saudi Arabia, are due to make their respective announcements about the sighting of the Zil Hajj moon today.
Pakistan Likely to Observe Eid ul Adha on June 29
In Pakistan, the Meteorological Office predicts the birth of the Zil Hajj moon at 9:37 pm on June 18, making it visible on June 19. As a result, the first day of Zil Hajj is expected to be celebrated on June 20 (Tuesday), with Eid ul Adha observed on June 29 (Thursday).
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is scheduled to convene at the Pakistan Meteorological Department in Karachi on Monday to confirm the moon sighting for Zulhajj. Moulana Abdul Khabir Azad, the Chairman of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, will lead the meeting.
Concurrently, meetings of the zonal and district Ruet-e-Hilal Committees will take place at their respective headquarters. The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee traditionally meets on the 29th of every Islamic month to announce the sighting of the moon.
