AARAU, Switzerland: An Aarau rave shooting killed a 22-year-old woman and injured five others early Sunday, while police searched for an unidentified suspect after gunfire erupted at the Schachen racecourse.
Aargau Cantonal Police received the first report shortly after 2:30 a.m. local time on August 30. The “Aarau Rave VOL. 7” was underway at the venue when the shooting occurred.
Police said the woman died at the scene. Four men and another woman, aged 24 to 27, were taken to hospitals with injuries ranging from minor to severe. All six victims lived in Switzerland.
Meanwhile, investigators said they had not established a motive or identified the perpetrator. Police also said they could not yet confirm whether one or more people carried out the shooting.

Authorities cordoned off a large area around the Schachen district and asked witnesses to submit photographs or videos.
Police, firefighters, emergency medical teams and Aargau’s disaster response unit joined the operation. A Swiss Army Super Puma helicopter also operated over the area.

The Associated Press reported that police in Freiburg, Germany, assisted the search as authorities expanded efforts beyond Aarau. The Swiss city lies about 30 kilometres south of the German border.
DJ Tekibo, who performed at the rave, wrote on Instagram that the incident was “absolutely heartbreaking” and said he had lost an important friend.
