NEW YORK: FIFA selected more than 750 tracks for World Cup stadium music in 2026, with team-specific songs prepared for line-ups, warm-ups and goals.
FIFA said its Stadium Entertainment Team worked with participating national associations to build playlists mixing global stadium anthems with country-specific favourites.
Each team has a signature song for line-up announcements, a warm-up track and a goal song.
The playlists cover the first 48-team edition of the FIFA World Cup and reflect the different football cultures of the participating nations.
Some songs appear across several teams’ lists, including The White Stripes’ “Seven Nation Army,” AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck” and Gala’s “Freed from Desire.”
Andrew Lawn, author of “We Lose Every Week: The History of Football Chanting,” said successful stadium songs need to be catchy, fun and recognisable.
Lawn said songs often become attached to successful moments and then remain part of football culture because fans connect emotion with the track.
Argentina chose Los Fabulosos Cadillacs’ “El Matador” as a warm-up and goal song, while Ghana used DopeNation’s “Kakalika” for signature and goal moments.
