Washington: Doha Iran talks, US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and senior adviser Jared Kushner this week, the White House said.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the officials would travel to Qatar’s capital for high-level meetings on June 30. She told Fox News that technical-level talks would take place on the sidelines.
Leavitt said the meetings would continue discussions on the memorandum of understanding. Earlier on June 29, President Donald Trump said Iran had requested a meeting in Doha. He did not provide further details in the social media post.
Leavitt said the United States remained committed to the ceasefire. “As far as we’re concerned, we’re holding up our end of the ceasefire,” she said.
The planned talks follow several days of strikes and counterstrikes. The clashes threatened to derail the interim ceasefire.
Tensions rose after an Iranian projectile struck a cargo vessel in the Strait of Hormuz on June 25. Washington and Tehran each accused the other of violating the truce.

Earlier, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said that no technical meetings with the United States were scheduled for this week.
His statement cast doubt on whether both sides would hold talks in Qatar, citing “the White House comments” in foreign media.
