Witkoff Doha talks remained uncertain after U.S. officials said the envoy travelled to Qatar for a potential meeting with Iran, while Tehran denied any scheduled negotiations.
CNN reported that U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff travelled to Doha. It was unclear whether Jared Kushner, President Donald Trump’s son-in-law and senior adviser, had joined Witkoff on the trip.
Trump said Monday that the United States would meet Iran in Doha on Tuesday and earlier said Tehran had requested the meeting.
A senior U.S. official told CNN over the weekend that technical discussions linked to a memorandum of understanding were “on track” despite recent exchanges of fire.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said no negotiations with the United States were planned in Qatar.
“No technical working group meetings are scheduled for this week,” Gharibabadi said. AP reported that Washington and Tehran had paused strikes but remained at odds over the next steps in diplomacy.
The conflicting accounts followed recent U.S.-Iran clashes that strained a fragile ceasefire linked to Gulf security and the Strait of Hormuz.
