Apple smart home hub reports point to a roughly 7-inch display device that could debut in fall 2026 as the company prepares retail space for new home products.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported that Apple is making changes inside parts of its retail stores ahead of forthcoming home hardware.
The hub could feature a square display and come in two configurations. One version may use a speaker-style base, while another could mount on a wall.
9to5Mac and MacRumors say the device may support FaceTime, widgets and smart-home controls. It could also use an A18-class processor and Apple’s latest Siri capabilities.

However, Apple has not announced the product or confirmed a launch date. The company is also expected to update the HomePod mini and Apple TV 4K. A newer S-series processor for the HomePod mini and A17 Pro-class hardware for Apple TV.
MacRumors also cited references in macOS 26.7 release-candidate code to unannounced home devices, including two types of home hubs and a new HomePod mini.
The existing HomePod mini costs USD 129 in the United States. Apple TV 4K starts at USD 199.
A dedicated display would put Apple into more direct competition with Amazon Echo and Google Nest smart-home products.
