TEHRAN: US-Iran strikes widened near the Strait of Hormuz as Tehran claimed retaliatory attacks on US-linked sites across Gulf states, officials and state media said.
US Central Command said it completed a new wave of strikes against Iran. CENTCOM said the attacks targeted Iranian air-defence systems, coastal radar sites, missile and drone capabilities, and small boats.
The command said the strikes aimed to reduce Iran’s ability to attack commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian state media reported explosions in Bandar Abbas, Sirik, Jask and Qeshm Island. The reports came after several days of US attacks across Iran, mainly in southern provinces near the waterway.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said it carried out missile and drone attacks on US-linked bases in Jordan, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman.
The IRGC said it targeted Jordan’s Prince Hassan airbase, Bahrain’s Sheikh Isa airbase and Kuwait’s Ali Al-Salem and Ahmad Al-Jaber airbases.
Iran’s army also said drone attacks continued against US bases in the region. Iran’s Foreign Ministry said the latest US attacks made recent diplomatic efforts futile.
The ministry accused Washington of disrupting efforts to manage traffic in the Strait of Hormuz through talks with Oman.
