US-Iran talks have slowed because of mistrust, contradictory US demands and Israeli military action, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said on Monday.
Speaking in Tehran, Baghaei accused Washington of shifting its positions during efforts to end the conflict. He said those changes had delayed progress toward an agreement.
Iran, a Middle East country with Tehran as its capital, also linked Israeli strikes in Lebanon to US policy. Baghaei said any final agreement must include full implementation of a Lebanon ceasefire.
The comments followed fresh US-Iran military exchanges. Iran said the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps targeted a US-linked base in Kuwait after weekend US strikes on Iranian southern provinces.
The United States has said recent strikes targeted Iranian military sites after what it described as aggressive Iranian actions. US officials have continued to pursue a broader ceasefire arrangement.

Baghaei said current talks focus on immediate demands, including the release of frozen Iranian assets abroad. He said detailed negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program had not yet started.
The spokesperson also warned neighbouring countries against allowing their territory or airspace to support operations against Iran.
