WASHINGTON: US-Iran strikes hit about 90 targets in a second consecutive night of attacks, US Central Command said, as Tehran warned broken promises were no longer cost-free.
CENTCOM said the strikes aimed to further reduce Iran’s ability to attack commercial shipping and civilian mariners in the Strait of Hormuz.
The command said targets included air defence systems, coastal surveillance assets, missile and drone storage sites, naval capabilities and military logistics infrastructure along Iran’s coastline.
The latest strikes followed US attacks on more than 80 Iranian targets on Tuesday after Washington accused Tehran of targeting commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
US President Donald Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One that the conflict was not a war but a “de-nuking” of Iran.
Trump said Iran wanted a deal “very badly,” but he questioned whether Tehran would honour any agreement. He also said the United States had hit Iran “very hard” and would respond at a ratio of “20 to 1” if Iran attacked again.
Iranian parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said on X that the United States had not learned that bullying and breaking promises were no longer cost-free.
Several Gulf states reported security incidents after the latest exchanges, including explosions in Bahrain, Kuwaiti missile and drone interceptions and a Qatari security alert.
