U.S. Central Command said American forces began additional strikes against Iran at President Donald Trump’s direction to reduce threats to shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
CENTCOM announced the strikes in a message on X. It said the operation aimed to further degrade Iran’s ability to threaten freedom of navigation in the vital international waterway.
The command said the United States was holding Iran accountable for what it called recent unjustified aggression against commercial shipping and civilian crews.
The statement did not give the strike locations, casualty figures, or the time of the operation. It also did not specify which Iranian assets American forces targeted.
