US envoy Steve Witkoff and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi headed toward US-Iran talks in Switzerland after a renewed Lebanon ceasefire revived diplomacy, Axios reported.
The talks aim to move an interim US-Iran understanding toward a longer settlement. The process also covers Iran’s nuclear program and regional security issues.
Witkoff planned to join Jared Kushner, adviser and son-in-law of President Donald Trump of the United States. It said Araghchi planned to travel to Switzerland on Saturday.
The United States, whose capital is Washington, seeks follow-up technical talks with Iran, whose capital is Tehran. CNN said Washington and Tehran were working to put the talks back on track.

Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency said Israeli strikes hit more than a dozen southern Lebanon locations after midnight on Saturday. It reported three deaths in Arab Salim, one in Deir Zahrani and one near Dweir.

Israel and Hezbollah had agreed to a ceasefire on Friday after fighting threatened the US-Iran diplomatic track. Axios said US officials viewed the truce as central to restarting talks. No new date for formal US-Iran negotiations had been announced.
