A US Caribbean strike hit a suspected narcotics-trafficking vessel on June 21, killing two alleged members of designated terrorist organisations, U.S. Southern Command said.
SOUTHCOM said Joint Task Force Southern Spear carried out the operation under the direction of General Francis L. Donovan.
The command said intelligence confirmed the vessel was moving along known drug-smuggling routes in the Caribbean Sea. It said the vessel was engaged in narcotics-trafficking operations.
SOUTHCOM described the operation as a “lethal kinetic strike” against a vessel it said was operated by designated terrorist organisations.
The command said six men survived the strike. It said no U.S. military personnel were harmed during the operation.
