BIRMINGHAM: Amy Hunt’s four golds made European Championships history as the British sprinter anchored Great Britain to victory in the mixed 4x100m relay.
Jeremiah Azu, Dina Asher-Smith and Zharnel Hughes carried the baton before Hunt took the final leg. Germany held a narrow advantage when Hunt began her run.
Hunt caught German anchor Gina Lückenkemper and pulled clear to seal the title. The victory added to her gold medals in the women’s 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay.
Hunt called the achievement “a dream come true” and said she would remember the week for the rest of her life.
Asher-Smith also extended her championship record. The British sprinter finished with eight European gold medals and 11 medals overall.
