President Donald Trump warned Iran would “pay the price” for taking too long to negotiate a peace deal after new U.S. and Iranian strikes shook the Middle East ceasefire.
Trump issued the warning after the U.S. military launched strikes against Iran following the downing of a U.S. Apache helicopter near the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps then released footage it claimed showed missile launches during attacks on U.S. military assets across the Middle East. The video’s exact location and timing could not be independently verified.
Iranian attacks targeted U.S.-linked military assets in Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan. It said air defences intercepted most of the incoming missiles and drones.

Trump said the United States must respond and left open the possibility of further strikes. He also said a peace deal with Iran had been close before the latest escalation.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry accused the United States of violating Iran’s sovereignty and warned countries hosting U.S. troops that they could be targeted if attacks continue.

The clashes came as Israel resumed strikes in Lebanon despite U.S. pressure to stop military action. At least eight people were killed in Tyre, southern Lebanon.
Oil prices rose more than 1% after the exchange of strikes near the Strait of Hormuz, a key global energy route. The escalation also came as U.S. inflation hit its highest level since 2023.
