Jerusalem: Netanyahu, Trump pressure grew after renewed Israel-Iran fighting deepened the Israeli prime minister’s political risks before upcoming elections, NBC News reported.
The report said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu faces criticism from Israeli rivals and allies who want a stronger response against Hezbollah in Lebanon.
Trump has publicly pushed for calm and continued talks to end the Iran conflict and reopen the Strait of Hormuz to shipping.
Gideon Rahat, a political science professor at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, said Netanyahu was trapped between U.S. interests and Israeli demands for retaliation.
Former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said Israel must respond with strength. National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir urged a harsher response against Tehran.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said in a Tasnim report that it had suspended military operations. It warned of stronger measures if hostile actions continued. Israeli reports found no casualties from the Iranian ballistic missiles fired at Israel.
The latest fighting followed Israeli strikes on Dahiyeh, a Hezbollah stronghold south of Beirut. The report said those strikes killed two people and injured about two dozen.
