Washington: President Donald Trump has said at least 37 times since March that a Trump-Iran deal was close or that Tehran wanted one, CNN reported Tuesday.
No agreement has been reached, but Trump has continued to describe a deal as near after renewed Iran-Israel hostilities.
CNN said Trump first cited “major points of agreement” on March 23 while speaking to reporters outside Air Force One. Iran denied negotiations at the time.
Trump said on April 7 that both sides were “very far along” and needed two weeks to finalise an agreement.

He later told Fox Business on April 15 that the conflict was “very close to over.” On April 17, he said Iran had “agreed to everything.”
Trump repeated the claim in May. CNN said he told reporters on May 23 that the deal was “largely negotiated” and would be announced “shortly.”

The report said Trump again told Axios that the United States was “very close to a final deal” with Iran.
Trump also told a tele-rally for Senator Lindsey Graham that Iran was willing to “give us everything.”
