Two Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) main leaders switched allegiance to the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).
The TLP leaders, Malik Amanat and Syed Atif Shah, from the Attock area, announced their intention to join the PPP after a meeting with PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. The shift in the alliance is a considerable setback for the TLP in the NA-50 Attock-II area.
Both former TLP leaders and their colleagues met with Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, who welcomed them into the PPP. Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Hayat Khan was also present during this significant announcement.
This political shift comes after Bilawal Bhutto Zardari declined a meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif last month despite the federal government’s request. This refusal followed Bilawal’s criticism of the government’s overtures. He clarified that his decision was based on the concerns of his voters and the needs of provincial governments rather than personal differences.
Bilawal has expressed ongoing grievances with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) regarding their management of administrative affairs in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), highlighting a failure to adhere to an earlier agreement to partner with PPP in governing these provinces. This friction underscores deeper issues within the political alliances managing these key regions.
