Tay Keith, the Grammy-nominated hip-hop producer whose credits included “Sicko Mode” and “Rich Flex,” has died at 29 in Nashville, Tennessee, police said.
The Memphis-born producer, real name Brytavious Lakeith Chambers, was found dead at his Nashville apartment on Thursday after a welfare check.
Metro Nashville Police confirmed his death and said no foul play was suspected. The cause of death remained unclassified pending autopsy results.
Keith broke into the mainstream in 2018 with BlocBoy JB’s viral hit “Rover.” He had worked with BlocBoy JB since the age of 14.
That same year, Keith co-produced Travis Scott’s “Sicko Mode,” featuring Drake, from the album “Astroworld.” The track earned him a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Song at the 61st annual awards ceremony in 2019.
Keith received a second Grammy nomination in the same category in 2024 for his work on Drake and 21 Savage’s “Rich Flex.”
His production credits also included Drake’s “Nonstop,” Eminem’s “Not Alike,” Lil Baby and Gunna’s “Never Recover” featuring Drake, and a bonus track from Beyoncé’s live “Homecoming” album.
Keith also worked with Sexyy Red, whose track “SkeeYee” helped him earn BMI R&B/Hip-Hop Producer of the Year. He won that honour three times, most recently in 2024.
