Swabi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Former senator and businessman Taj Muhammad Afridi was killed in an M-1 Motorway accident near Swabi on Friday, the National Highways and Motorway Police said.
A Motorway Police spokesperson said the vehicle carrying Afridi lost control and plunged off the road on the Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway. His driver sustained injuries in the crash.
Officials said Afridi was travelling from Islamabad to Peshawar when the accident occurred. Preliminary investigations suggested that a mechanical fault caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle.
Motorway Police and rescue teams reached the scene and carried out emergency response operations. Officials said Afridi died in the accident, while the injured driver received medical assistance.
