Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei is renowned for his wealth and opulent lifestyle. He holds the record for the world’s largest private car collection, valued at approximately $5 billion.
With a personal fortune estimated at $30 billion, largely sourced from Brunei’s lucrative oil and gas reserves, the Sultan possesses over 7,000 high-end vehicles. His impressive assortment includes roughly 600 Rolls-Royce cars, which have earned him an official Guinness World Record.
Further highlighting his luxury collection, he owns about 450 Ferraris and 380 Bentleys. The collection includes Porsches, Lamborghinis, Maybachs, Jaguars, BMWs, and McLarens, as automotive experts like CarBuzz and The South China Morning Post reported.
Among the standout pieces in his collection are a Bentley Dominator SUV, valued at close to $80 million, a special Horizon Blue Porsche 911 equipped with an X88 power package, and a 24-carat gold-plated Rolls-Royce Silver Spur II. A particularly unique item is a custom-designed Rolls-Royce featuring an open roof and an integrated umbrella, exquisitely adorned with gold.
In addition to his vehicles, the Sultan made a notable addition to his daughter Princess Majededah’s 2007 wedding—a custom gold-coated Rolls-Royce.
Beyond his vehicles, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah’s residence, the Istana Nurul Iman Palace, holds the Guinness World Record as the largest residential palace globally. This sprawling estate covers over two million square feet with lavish decorations, including 22-carat gold. It features five swimming pools, 1,700 bedrooms, 257 bathrooms, and 110 garages. His holdings also include a private zoo with 30 Bengal tigers and various bird species, alongside ownership of a Boeing 747 aircraft.
