The Sindh digital attendance system has been expanded to 3,481 government schools, with the provincial government targeting coverage of all public schools by April 2027, the Education Department said.
The initiative, launched on the directives of Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Shah, will give each student a digital educational profile containing attendance, examination and academic performance records.
According to the department, 3,481 schools had joined the system by August 10. The Sindh Cabinet approved the digital monitoring policy in March 2026.
Each student will receive a unique Student ID and QR code. The system will track daily attendance and flag prolonged absences to help authorities identify children considered at risk of dropping out.
Parents will receive SMS alerts when students are absent for extended periods, allowing families to address attendance issues, the department said.

The platform will also support academic reports and certificate issuance. Schools in areas with weak internet connectivity will be able to record attendance through an offline facility.
The system includes geofenced attendance and facial-recognition technology and has been integrated with other education-related digital platforms.
The Education Department said the platform would eventually be linked with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) and the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) to further consolidate student records.
