Spice World streaming is planned after the Spice Girls secured full ownership of the 1997 musical comedy, Mel C said on The Louis Theroux Podcast.
Mel C, also known as Sporty Spice, said the film has remained unavailable online because several parties previously held ownership rights. “The Spice Girls now fully own it,” she said.
Mel C added that the group hopes to present the film “in the not-too-distant future.” Spice World, written by Kim Fuller and directed by Bob Spiers, follows Victoria Beckham, Mel B, Emma Bunton, Mel C and Geri Halliwell in London during the group’s peak.
The film also features Elton John, Hugh Laurie, Richard E. Grant, Roger Moore, Jennifer Saunders, Alan Cumming, Meat Loaf and Elvis Costello.
The update comes as the Spice Girls mark 30 years since their 1996 debut single “Wannabe.” Their debut album, Spice, reached the same milestone in September. Mel C told The Smallzy Show that the group remains in contact, but she did not confirm a full reunion plan.
