The Sindh government has announced a revised private school fee policy for the 2026-27 academic session, introducing new rules to standardise fee collection and improve transparency for parents.
Under the updated guidelines, the academic year began on April 1, 2026, while matriculation examinations started on April 10. Officials have directed private schools to collect fees from matric students only up to March and have barred them from imposing any additional charges on students appearing in board examinations.
The government has also introduced a separate fee structure for students moving from Class IX to Class X to clarify payments during the transition period and reduce billing disputes.
Under the new policy, private schools may collect June and July fees in advance during April and May. However, they must issue separate fee vouchers for each month. Schools must honour June fee vouchers until June 30, while they may accept July vouchers until July 31.
The revised framework will cover students from pre-primary through Class IX. Officials say the move aims to create a more consistent fee-collection system and to give families greater clarity when managing school expenses.
The issue of advance fee demands has already drawn legal attention in Sindh. Earlier this month, the Sindh High Court granted conditional permission to a ninth-grade student to appear in upcoming examinations during a dispute over June and July school fees.
According to details presented in court, the student’s family challenged a private school administration in Karachi over the early demand for summer fees. The petitioner’s counsel argued that the school had issued advance challans for June and July in violation of established procedures.
The new Sindh private school fee policy for 2026-27 appears aimed at addressing precisely those kinds of disputes by setting clearer rules on when schools can collect fees and how they must issue payment vouchers.
