JOHANNESBURG: The ICC named 12 2027 Cricket World Cup venues across South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia on Thursday, confirming the tournament’s return to Africa after 24 years.
The International Cricket Council unveiled the venues and tournament brand at a launch ceremony in Johannesburg. South Africa will stage matches at eight grounds, Zimbabwe at three and Namibia at one.
South Africa’s venues are Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, Centurion in Tshwane, Newlands in Cape Town and Kingsmead in Durban.
St George’s Park in Gqeberha, Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein, Boland Park in Paarl and Buffalo Park in KuGompo City complete the South African list.
Zimbabwe will host matches at Harare Sports Club, Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo and the newly constructed Fale Mosi-oa-Tunya International Cricket Stadium in Victoria Falls.
Namibia Cricket Ground in Windhoek will stage Namibia’s first matches as the host of a senior ICC global tournament. The complete list appears in the ICC’s official venue announcement.
The 14-team tournament will take place in October and November 2027. It will feature 57 matches under a new three-stage format comprising a Super Series, two six-team groups and a Super Seven round.

ICC Chairman Jay Shah called the World Cup’s return to Africa a “landmark moment for cricket.” South Africa, Zimbabwe and Kenya previously staged the tournament in 2003.
