Sindh Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah announced that the distribution of free solar panels will commence in August. Chairing a meeting on the solar supply project, he emphasized the need to expedite efforts to provide solar panels to those in need by the end of August.
“We will soon begin distributing solar panels across every division and district,” he confirmed.
Speaking at the meeting, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah expressed the Sindh government’s commitment to easing the burden on citizens by offering more affordable electricity solutions. “Solarisation is our strategy to make electricity more affordable for everyone,” he stated.
He also pointed out the current challenge with expensive electricity, noting that it has become unaffordable for many and is causing widespread distress across the province due to high electricity bills.

On August 3, Sindh Governor Kamran Tesori announced the provision of free solar panels for residents consuming up to 300 units of electricity. He disclosed that 9,000 solar panels have been procured for the project’s first phase and will be distributed free of charge. This initiative aims to mitigate the effects of load shedding by allowing recipients to generate up to 300 units of electricity via solar power, free of installation and supply costs.
