Pakistani mountaineer Sajid Ali Sadpara summited Mount Makalu in Nepal on Saturday. This marks his 10th ascent of a mountain above 8,000 metres.
Sajid reached the 8,485-metre summit at around 5 am, according to details shared in the source account.
Mount Makalu is the world’s fifth-highest mountain. It is located in the Mahalangur Himalayas, 19 kilometres southeast of Mount Everest. Additionally, it sits on the China–Nepal border.
The peak is considered one of the world’s more difficult climbs because of steep ridges, difficult terrain and extreme weather conditions.
The Alpine Club of Pakistan congratulated Sajid on the successful summit and called it a major moment for Pakistani mountaineering.
ACP President Maj Gen (retd) Irfan Arshad said the achievement reflected Sajid’s courage, determination and mountaineering skill.
