The Roku Channel led America’s free ad-supported streaming TV platforms in February 2026, capturing 2.9% of total streaming time, according to Nielsen’s latest streaming usage report.
The platform outperformed other major free ad-supported services, including Tubi, which recorded 2.2%, and Pluto TV, which reached 2.1% during the same period. Notably, The Roku Channel’s performance also placed it ahead of several paid streaming platforms, including Paramount+ and platforms operated by Warner Bros. Discovery.
The Roku Channel provides viewers with free access to a mix of live television channels and on-demand programming, supported by advertising rather than subscription fees. Its growth reflects the increasing appeal of free streaming options, particularly as several paid streaming services continue to raise subscription prices.
The platform has also expanded its content offering, recently adding 34 channels dedicated to classic television programming, featuring titles such as Home Improvement, Murder, She Wrote, Bones, Baywatch, and Saved by the Bell. This broader content library strengthens its appeal among viewers seeking familiar, easy-to-access entertainment without additional costs.
In addition to its free content, The Roku Channel offers personalised recommendations, cross-device syncing, and optional premium subscription add-ons, including Apple TV+ and MGM+. Together, these features position the platform as a flexible streaming destination that combines free, ad-supported viewing with optional access to paid premium content.
