The federal government has appointed Riffat Mukhtar, a seasoned Grade-21 officer of the Police Service of Pakistan (PSP), as the new director general of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
Mukhtar, who once led the National Highway & Motorway Police (NH&MP) as inspector general, steps into this pivotal role with a wealth of experience. His past stint as Sindh’s inspector general of police further bolsters his credentials for steering the FIA.

In a parallel move, Waqar-ud-Din Syed, a Grade-20 PSP officer, has been named the inaugural director general of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), a fresh outfit under the Interior Division.
Syed, previously the FIA Cybercrime Circle director, earned the Sitara-e-Imtiaz for his stellar work tackling cybercrime recognition, underscoring his fit for this trailblazing role.

The Establishment Division’s notification confirms both appointments, signalling the government’s push to fortify law enforcement and cybersecurity.
