The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) served a show cause notice to senior politician Pervez Khattak from the Nowshera district.

The notice demanded an explanation for Khattak’s alleged instigation of members to abandon the party. PTI Secretary General Omar Ayub Khan has given Khattak seven days from the notice issuance to clarify his actions.

The notice states, ” The matter of Pervez Khattak encouraging Tehreek-e-Insaaf members to leave the party has been taken up at party-level. Central Secretary General Umar Ayub has issued a show-cause notice to Parvez Khattak, and he has been asked to reply within 7 days. In case of a non-satisfactory reply or non-response to show-cause notice, further action will be taken.”

Pervez Khattak’s Show Cause Notice

Khattak, once PTI’s secretary general and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s chief minister during PTI’s regime, has already signaled his departure from the party’s provincial role as president. The show cause notice further warns that should Khattak’s response be unsatisfactory or non-existent, the party will initiate further action according to its policies and regulations.

The ongoing mass exodus from PTI has seen many politicians sever ties with the party, some even exiting politics altogether. Among those who have left the Imran Khan-led party include prominent figures such as Fawad Chaudhry, Ali Zaidi, Mahmood Baqi Maulvi, Imran Ismail, Firdous Ashiq Awa, Aamer Mehmood Kiani, Sardar Tanveer Ilyas, Fayaz ul Hassan Chohan, and Murad Raas.

Numerous ex-PTI members have chosen to join the newly-established Istihkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) under the leadership of seasoned politician Jahangir Tareen. Meanwhile, others are contemplating alternative routes or distancing themselves from the party in light of the destabilizing events that occurred on May 9.
