Peshawar Zalmi beat Hyderabad Kingsmen by five wickets in the PSL 11 final at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Punjab, on Sunday to win their second Pakistan Super League title.
Aaron Hardie led Zalmi with an unbeaten 56 off 39 balls after taking four wickets for 27 runs, ending the franchise’s nine-year wait since its 2017 title.
Chasing 130, Zalmi reached 130/5 with 28 balls remaining despite losing Mohammad Haris and captain Babar Azam in the opening over to Mohammad Ali.
Hardie rebuilt the innings after Zalmi slipped to 40/4, adding 85 runs with Abdul Samad for the decisive fifth-wicket stand.
Samad scored 48 off 34 balls, including four sixes, before falling in the 15th over.
Mohammad Ali led Hyderabad Kingsmen’s bowling with 3/38, while Hunain Shah and Akif Javed took one wicket each.
Earlier, Peshawar Zalmi bowled out Hyderabad Kingsmen for 129 in 18 overs after winning the toss and choosing to field.
Saim Ayub top-scored for Kingsmen with 54 off 50 balls, while captain Marnus Labuschagne made 20 off 12.
Kingsmen collapsed to 73/6 after losing Maaz Sadaqat, Usman Khan and two run-out victims in quick succession.
Nahid Rana took two wickets for Zalmi, while Sufiyan Muqeem and Mohammad Basit claimed one wicket each.
