In a narrow brush with death, political activist Muhammad Naeem survived an assassination attempt in Karachi when the attacker’s gun malfunctioned twice. The incident occurred on Monday and was caught on CCTV and quickly spread across social media platforms.
The footage reveals Naeem is walking down a street when a man wearing a colorful helmet approaches him from behind, attempting to shoot him. However, the bullet becomes lodged in the gun’s chamber, and despite the attacker trying to cock the weapon again, it still fails to fire.
Naeem manages to escape, and the would-be assassin retreats from the scene. Authorities believe the motive for the attack may be connected to Naeem’s recent change in political affiliations. Police are actively investigating the case and gathering additional CCTV footage from where the suspect was last seen.
Karachi, Pakistan’s economic center, has long been plagued by escalating street violence. As a result, its residents have experienced a range of crimes, from minor theft to armed robbery and targeted killings. These incidents have resulted in financial loss and fostered fear and distrust towards the police force tasked with maintaining public safety.
As economic challenges continue to intensify, the situation in Karachi is rapidly deteriorating, leading to the loss of innocent lives. This emphasizes the urgent need for increased accountability and comprehensive reforms.
