The Intelligence Bureau (IB) has provided Delhi Police with a list of approximately 5,000 Pakistani nationals residing in the capital, directing their repatriation following a central government order.

The directive, issued on Friday, April 25, 2025, revokes most visas for Pakistani nationals, except Long-Term Visas (LTVs) held by Hindu Pakistani nationals, in response to a recent terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam district.

The NDTV reported that the Indian Foreign Regional Registration Office (FRRO) shared the list with Delhi Police’s special branch, which distributed it to district authorities for verification. A senior official stated, “The list has been handed over for verification, and Pakistani nationals have been asked to return to their homeland.” Central and North East districts, including Majnu Ka Tila (900 residents) and Signature Bridge (600–700 residents), have significant populations of these nationals.

Two lists, one of 3,000 and another of 2,000 names, are under review, with some overlaps and confirmations that many have already left. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) clarified that medical visas will become invalid after April 29, 2025, while diplomatic and LTVs remain valid. Delhi Police and IB officers actively collect information to ensure compliance, with senior officials monitoring progress.

The move reflects heightened security measures following the attack, balancing national safety with exemptions for specific visa holders.
