PHILIPPINES: The Philippines ferry fire death toll has risen to 76 after rescuers recovered another 41 bodies from the vessel, according to the Philippine Coast Guard.
Coast Guard spokesperson Noemi Cayabyab confirmed the updated toll, TASS reported. Authorities had previously reported 35 deaths before the latest recoveries increased the total to 76. The fire broke out aboard the ferry on September 9.
According to the Coast Guard figures cited in the report, 134 people were aboard the vessel when the fire occurred. The total included 17 crew members.

The number of people still missing and the official cause of the fire have not been confirmed yet.
