ISLAMABAD: Authorities have expanded a probe into alleged Pakistan scam networks involving foreign nationals accused of targeting victims abroad.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), and the police are examining financial transactions and digital infrastructure linked to the suspects.
The inquiry now also involves the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, the Federal Board of Revenue, and the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan.
Investigators are seeking immigration, passport and visa records. They are also examining the suspects’ entry, stay and business activities in Pakistan.

Authorities later directed the 284 nationals to leave Pakistan within 15 days after completing legal and travel requirements. Investigators had extended the probe to possible victims and network members outside Pakistan.
Separately, the federal government plans a nationwide operation against illegal call centres and cyber fraud, according to the report.
A special FIA task force will investigate scams, extortion, blackmail and gambling activity. Officials had also compiled a list of call centres operating in Karachi.
