LAHORE, Punjab: The Punjab Safe Cities Authority has acquired 100 specialised biometric machines to speed up the identification of unclaimed bodies and missing people through its Meri Pehchan Centre.
PSCA officials said the new equipment is designed for cases where conventional biometric devices cannot capture identification data effectively. The machines will support faster matching of unidentified people and bodies with available identity records.
The Meri Pehchan service is linked with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) and uses biometric verification to identify missing people, including those unable to provide their names or addresses. PSCA officially lists Meri Pehchan among its public-safety services.

According to PSCA officials, the centre has processed more than 7,000 cases involving unidentified bodies, identifying over 5,000 bodies and helping return them to their families. The authority also says the system has helped identify more than 4,000 mentally or physically vulnerable people and reunite them with relatives.
PSCA’s 2025 annual performance figures separately reported that Meri Pehchan helped reunite 5,000 unidentified and older people with their families during the year.
The authority launched Meri Pehchan in January 2025 as a biometric identification service connected with NADRA records.
