The federal government cut the Pakistan petroleum levy on petrol by Rs40.49 per litre but increased the levy on high-speed diesel by Rs19.71 per litre, according to sources.
The petrol levy now stands at Rs66.25 per litre. The levy on high-speed diesel rose to Rs 72.97 per litre after the latest adjustment.
The levy on kerosene oil has been set at Rs20.36 per litre, while the levy on light diesel oil stands at Rs15.84 per litre.

The government also reduced the levy on High-Octane Blended Component by Rs214.12 per litre. The HOBC levy fell to Rs 91.25 per litre from Rs 305.37.
The levy changes followed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s announcement of a Rs74 per litre cut in petrol and a Rs67 per litre cut in diesel.
After the reduction, petrol will fall from Rs 373 to Rs 299 per litre. Diesel will drop from Rs378 to Rs311 per litre, according to the prime minister’s statement.
Shehbaz said the government would pass on the benefit of lower oil prices once the economic situation improved. He said the public had shown patience during difficult conditions.
