Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has lifted moratorium over capital punishment in Pakistan, on Wednesday.

Around 1000 death convicts have been in Pakistan’s jails for implementation of their sentence.

According to a government order, the ban on the death sentence has been lifted and the implementation on the penalty will start after 48 hours. Capital punishment will be given to the convicts who had been awarded death sentences on terrorism charges.

The government of Pakistan had imposed a ban over death penalty in the country over the demand of the European Union and the international human rights organizations.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has taken the decision after Tuesday’s terrorist attack on Army Public School in Peshawar which claimed 141 lives including 132 school children and nine staff members including the Principal.
