Pakistan’s military has intercepted 77 Indian drones and reported five civilian deaths along the Line of Control (LoC), escalating tensions in the ongoing India-Pakistan conflict.

Security sources confirm that the drones, identified as Israeli-made Harop models, targeted both civilian and military sites. Additionally, Indian shelling on residential areas resulted in significant casualties.

Since Wednesday, May 7, Pakistan’s army neutralised 29 drones by Thursday evening, with an additional 48 downed overnight into Friday, according to security sources. On the LoC, Indian forces used heavy artillery in Hajeera, Forward Kahuta, and Khuiratta, killing five civilians and injuring seven. The Pakistan Army responded swiftly, forcing Indian troops to raise a white flag near Dharamsal 2 post after sustained retaliation.

Pakistan downed 77 Indian Harop drones, with five civilian deaths reported on the LoC due to Indian shelling.

Tensions surged after a deadly April 22 attack in Pahalgam, Indian-administered Kashmir, which killed 26 tourists. India blamed Pakistan without public evidence, a claim Pakistan denies. India retaliated by closing the Wagah-Attari border, suspending the Indus Waters Treaty, and revoking Pakistani visas on April 23.

Pakistan sealed its border and warned against water flow disruptions. On May 6–7, India conducted missile, air, and drone strikes on Pakistani cities like Sialkot and Muzaffarabad, killing 31 civilians, per Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Pakistan’s military reported downing five Indian jets three Rafales, one MiG-29, one SU-series—and an Israeli-made Heron drone in areas including Bhatinda and Srinagar. Indian authorities have not confirmed these losses.

The Pakistan Army emphasised its readiness to counter further aggression along the Loc, amid global calls for de-escalation from the U.S., UN, and others.
