ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and Google signed an MoU to strengthen child online safety in Pakistan, the regulator said Thursday.
The agreement covers a Child Safety Programme for children, parents, teachers and caregivers across the country.
PTA said the partners will create safety material in English and local languages. They also plan training programmes at educational institutions.
A nationwide campaign will provide online safety resources and tutorials to millions of families, according to the regulator.
PTA Chairman Maj Gen (retd) Hafeez Ur Rehman called for joint action among stakeholders to protect children online.

PTA Member for Compliance and Enforcement, Dr Khawar Siddique Khokhar, also stressed digital literacy and the responsible use of online platforms.
The regulator said the partnership aims to provide parents and teachers with practical tools to help children use the internet more safely. Google also opened its first office in Islamabad this week.
