Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his Malaysian counterpart, Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening ties between their countries on Thursday.
In a meeting held in Islamabad, the two leaders discussed the long-standing cooperation between Pakistan and Malaysia.
PM Ibrahim, accompanied by a high-level delegation, arrived in Islamabad on Wednesday for a two-day visit.

During their discussions today, the PMO noted that the leaders addressed various bilateral, regional, and international topics of shared interest, including challenges facing the Muslim Ummah.
They explored ways to enhance bilateral cooperation for tangible results in these areas.
PM Shehbaz congratulated PM Ibrahim on Malaysia’s upcoming Chairmanship of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in 2025. The visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan’s ongoing engagement with ASEAN as a Sectoral Dialogue Partner and supported Pakistan’s increased involvement with ASEAN.
The leaders emphasized the significance of continued dialogue and exchanges of visits to guide the future of their bilateral relations. They highlighted that the Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC), bilateral consultations, and other mechanisms are essential for fostering deeper engagement at all levels.
Expanding on this visit, the Foreign Office mentioned that the discussions will cover a broad agenda to enhance Pakistan-Malaysia ties in trade, connectivity, energy, agriculture, the halal industry, tourism, cultural exchanges, and people-to-people contacts.
FO Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch stated that both leaders would review regional and global developments.
She added that this visit is crucial in further solidifying the strong historical, cultural, and faith-based ties between Pakistan and Malaysia.
