The Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) has placed more than 600 individuals linked to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), including its chairman Imran Khan and former assembly members, on a no-fly list.
These PTI leaders, including the party’s chief, have reportedly been implicated due to their supposed involvement in acts of violence and defacing martyrs’ monuments on May 9.
Their names have reportedly been added to the FIA’s Provisional National Identification List (PNIL) to prevent these individuals from traveling internationally.
The list also includes the former prime minister’s wife, Bushra Bibi. Other notable inclusions on the list are Murad Saeed, Maleeka Bokhari, Fawad Chaudhry, Hammad Azhar, Qasim Suri, Asad Qaiser, Yasmin Rashid, and Mian Aslam Iqbal.
In addition, the sources claim that several PTI leaders and office bearers were prevented from leaving the country at airports within the last three days.
Police submitted their names, the counter-terrorism Department (CTD), and intelligence agencies to prevent their exit from the country.
In the aftermath of the events on May 9, many PTI workers and leaders were reportedly arrested due to their alleged association with riots that caused at least eight deaths and numerous injuries.
In response to the attacks on state properties, many party leaders and lawmakers, such as Shireen Mazari, Asad Umar, Fawad Chaudhry, Aamir Mehmood Kiani, Malik Amin Aslam, Mahmood Moulvi, Aftab Siddiqui, and Fayyazul Hassan Chohan, among others, have publicly voiced their condemnation and announced their decision to leave the former governing party since the vandalism of May 9.
